By Kurt Flachbart By Kurt Flachbart Thanks to an invita on from Ossa aficionado Alex Snoop, I was able to a end what has recently be- come one of the most talked about vintage mo- torcycling events in the na on. Formerly known as "The Onion Farm," Vintage Day at the Ranch, in Warwick, New York (about 50 miles north of New York City), le your editor, Kurt, speechless. Yes, it was THAT GOOD, and I'll do my best to paint the picture. Like most events, I'll plug the address into Waze before pulling out of the driveway, then slip into a Led Zeppelin-filled trance un l I reach the des na on. Hopefully, with li le fanfare, the trip goes smoothly and, as with most off-road venues, I'll roll into some farmer's field and set up amongst the crew that typically follows this circus we enjoy so much. As I neared my des na on, the GPS directed me into a property with large iron gates, leading up a paved driveway flanked by beau ful ponds with Vegas-style spou ng fountains. I was sure the GPS had screwed me once again, as this proper- ty didn't look like your typical dirt bike venue, but the Mo on Pro banner proudly displayed on one of the gates caught my a en on, and I entered the property, winding up the drive leading up to a large field where I found my friend Alex direc ng those camping for the weekend on where to park. A bit road-weary and flat-out awestruck by the grounds, I soon spo ed a few familiar faces. I then se led into a camping spot with a mul -million-dollar sun- set view looking over the mountains that surround upstate New York and Pennsylvania. Friday night's fes vi es began at the owners', Ed and Jodi Sobiech's gorgeous backyard pa o, with a catered Italian dinner and pizzas of all your favor- ites. Behind the home is a large two-story garage with a collec on of impeccably restored vintage bikes along with a handful of 60s & 70s muscle cars. Oh yeah, right up Kurt's alley, and to be honest, I was in a bit of a fog as this scene seemed a bit sur- real. With bellies full, we all se led into our typical bench racing groups while marveling at the hordes of fine vintage rides that had arrived during the a ernoon and evening.
