Enter the NITRO PROLINX, an innova ve four- piece mousse system that lets riders custom-tai- lor re-pressure feel by adding or removing length from the fourth mousse link. Each PROLINX length uses Nitromousse's Progressive Density Technology: nitrogen-infused foam of firm density hugs the rim for protec on, a mid-firmness center core, and a so , compliant outer layer for compli- ance and trac on on challenging terrain. As long- me fans of Nuetech products, we jumped at the chance to set up a wheelset with our favorite re combo for slow-going, rocky, rooty terrain and see what this cool new system was all about. Installa on and re moun ng with the PROLINX is straigh orward and possibly easier than mount- ing a regular mousse. As with all mousses, instal- la on begins with squeezing a bead of cooling gel (supplied) to the inside or crown of the re. Next, insert all three full-length PROLINX sec ons into the re carcass. Using a tape measure, measure the open gap length (at the shortest point) between the PROLINX sec ons. Cut the fourth PROLINX sec- on to the desired length to achieve your preferred re pressure feel, then mount the re to the rim with the rim lock located in the middle of a full- length sec on. Using the chart supplied as a guide, for the front re, we added 2" to the open gap length and cut the fourth sec on as required to achieve the de- sired re pressure feel, with a sharp carving knife. As a bonus, each PROLINX sec on is graduated with lines 1" apart to make the process easier and more accurate. The remaining sec ons can be used later to increase pressure feel as the PROLINX sec ons break in. Moun ng the PROLINX re combo was no different than moun ng any mousse combo.
