8 Trail Rider RACE RECAP: J DAY OFF ROAD MSR BOSTWICK CREEK GP A Wild Comeback Win For Decotis J immy Decos took the win against a stacked field of pro riders at the MSR Bosck Creek GP. Decos would go 1-1 to earn the overall and beat some of the best naonal off road talent in the country. In addion to the J Day regular pro class riders of Johnny Girroir, Kyle Hangos, Nick Baen and Jason Connell, naonal pros Brad Bakken, Jason Thomas, Chris Bach, Mike Lafferty and 29 others were on hand to contents the 3,000 dollar pro purse payout. When the green flag dropped on the first moto, Decos put his Honda 450 out front and never looked back. Robby Mar- shall and Kyle Hangos tagged on to Decos's rear wheel and freight trained the first moto with Hangos overtaking Marshall on the final lap. Hangos would go on to finish 5 seconds be- hind Decos with Marshall rounding out the top three. Just behind Robby Marshall, Chris Bach, Jason Thomas and Jesse Groemm were locked in a heated bale. Bach would get a dismal start to begin the first moto and find himself in 11th place aer the first lap. He then put his head down and went to work picking his way through the field before latching on to Thomas and Groemm on the third lap. Bach would overtake Thomas midway through the third lap and move in to the 4th place posion. Bach and Thomas were wheel to wheel going through the KTM Extreme secon before taking the checkered flag with Bach edging Thomas by one second. Groemm would cross the finish line just four sec- onds behind Thomas for 6th place. Jason Connell put in a solid ride to shore up the 7th overall posion in moto 1. Reigning series champion Johnny Girroir struggled in the first moto, hing the ground early before making his way through the pack to finish 8th. Eight me naonal enduro champion Mike Lafferty would spot the field several sec- onds before geng his factory FMF Factory KTM SX-F 350 to the first corner. Much like Bach, Lafferty spent the first moto making his way through the traffic before going on to finish 10th behind AmPro Yamaha's Brad Bakken. As the wild as the first moto was, the sec- ond moto is when things went crazy. www.TrailRider.com Jimmy Decos took the overall win. Kyle Hangos almost held Decos off for the win.
