ready to go or take the cheap route, and
for $25 worth of plumbing supplies, you
can make your own. e only other thing
I would add on this topic is when you
pump up a 2-stroke engine, only bring it
up to 6 or 7 PSI and don't use your com-
pressor line; use a hand pump or you will
end up blowing out a seal.
Fun with frames! Last time around I
mentioned I needed to do some creative
surgery to make one good frame from
two rough ones. For one of the frames, I
spent too much time in the elements and
the spine was literally rotted through. e
other looked like a previous owner at-
tempted to cobble in a larger motor. With
that attempt, both the forward and rear
motor mounts were completely trashed,
so I fabricated new rear motor mounts
and cut the down tubes with the forward
mounts intact from the other frame with
the rotted spine. When threading the re-
placement down tubes back in, I used some
short pieces of round stock inside the tubes
to keep everything in line while I welded it
up and added some tubing over the welded
joints for reinforcement. Prior to starting
the frame repairs, I took lots of measure-
ments to ensure the height and angles of
the mounts would be correct and a er tack
welding everything together, I dry fi t anoth-
er Sachs engine in to be sure I got it all right
before welding it up solid. Certainly not a
stock look, but I am building a rider, so I am
more concerned with function than appear-
ance.
