monitor condi ons throughout the day, keep- ing John Day informed of what may be occur- ring out on the track, making modifi ca ons to the course as may be needed and providing an overall sense of comfort in the knowledge of their presence. We are also fortunate to have Sammy the Quad Boss to help riders who may experience issues and assist with retrieving their bikes or ge ng them to safety. There are numerous people who photograph and record videos of the races which are shared in the days following the races on social media pla orms. With many diff erent styles of pho- tographers and varying perspec ves it is fun to see what memories were documented out of the day. It is eff ec vely on-line bench racing with each photograph and video that is shared. There are always moments that shine for a racer and having them documented is priceless. The par cularly special ones (like when you fi nally scored the holeshot or hit a jump like a savage) get printed, framed and hung in the shop to refl ect upon for years to come. During the long winter break, the riders pass the me with bike rebuilds or in some cases, breaking in new bikes, and everyone gets in as much winter riding as can be tolerat- ed. The JDay Expo and awards banquet (which will be held on February 10, 2018 at Patriot Place) provides the opportunity to visit with familiar faces, browse the various exhibits of off road vendors, teams and bike displays. Following the Expo, those who choose to a end take part in the annual Awards Banquet where the past season of accomplishments are celebrated, achievement awards are handed out and season recap video edits are played.
