route through the sawgrass and palme os before transi oning back into a second pasture to the check out. It was great fun! A er checking out of the grass track, riders hopped back onto the paved road, traveled a short distance to where it turned to gravel, and then on to the next test sec on — a mile and a half combina on of grass track and trails. This sec on was med on both the fi rst and second laps. Upon exi ng this test, riders retraced their steps back up the gravel road to the pavement and then re-entered the trails for a fi ve-mile ride back to the parc ferme/camping area. Before ending the fi rst lap, riders were directed to a mile or so grass/motocross track, again used as a sigh ng lap the fi rst me through, and a med test on the second lap, and then to a short accelera on and braking test before the mid-day break in the ac on. A er a short break to refresh bike and body, it was out to tackle the second lap of the course. This me there would be four med tests: Gods' Country, the big grass track, the grass/ trail test, and the fi nal moto test. A fair number of riders who tackled the hero sec ons on the fi rst go-round opted to just ride past them the second me, perhaps preserving their energy for the upcoming special tests. We may be old, but we're not dumb! There were plenty of "race faces" at the check-ins for each test, as class standings and bragging rights were at stake this me. By mid-a ernoon everyone was off the course and trading tales and observa ons about the day's fun. The Acadiana guys and gals hosted a banquet Saturday evening at the camping area, serving up an outstanding dinner, more awesome Cajun cuisine, jambalaya and boudin (Cajun sausage) cooked in a cast iron ke le with enough to feed a small army. No empty bellies here! Six Days vets were recognized for going to "the big show" to represent the United States. In addi on to club members Kevin Hutchinson and Blake Plonsky, Chris Graber was down from Illinois, Kelvin Thomas came from Indiana, and Alan Drane made the trip over from Texas. Senior vet was seven- me medalist Dwight Rudder, January 2018 17 James Lubniewski and his impeccable Penton New England ISDE vet Alan Drane
